Three former Labour MPs granted legal aid for expenses trials Politics guardian.co.uk

Three politicians charged in connection with alleged irregularities in their parliamentary expenses have been awarded legal aid, it was reported today.

Court officials confirmed that the former Labour MPs David Chaytor, Elliot Morley and Jim Devine would receive taxpayers' money to fund their legal bills, which could run into six figures...

What a damn cheek these former MPs have - applying for tax payers money to defend themselves against fraudulently taking taxpayers money!

So they are guilty already in your eyes, why bother with a trial, just string 'em up!

  2. In my view they are guilty of fraud. I'm surely entitled to take a view...? I think most people share my view. Whatever my view, it does not logically follow that there should be no trial now does it!!

These MPs are fully prepared to further drag down the reputation of Parliament and politics with their every action it seems to me - first trying to use 'parliamentary privilege' and now applying for and accepting legal aid.

Whilst many will be tempted by the 'string 'em up' idea I'm afraid Green Party policy opposes capital punishment - perhaps they could be composted though!!
